Root and Branch is a brand club founded by enthusiastic family historian, Moira Bonnington.
Following the success of the recent BBC series “Who do you think you are”, researching and building a family tree has become a national pastime.
But, as Moira frequently remarks during one of her talks, this new craze is totally addictive and should come with a government health warning.
If allowed to do so, “victims” would spend hours monopolising the family computer or huddled or reading in stuffy darkened rooms. Often isolated and frequently confused, they appear to spend more time thinking about dead ancestors rather than living relatives.
They start collecting mountains of paper and visiting graveyards.
Moira decided it was time to “ come out” and set up a self help group.
The club started meeting in February and is now well established.
We do have a serious intent and definite purpose but we are also want to be informal and flexible.
