A Prayer Book

C. Archer was Caroline Stokes who was born in 1801.

At one time she and her parents lived in Smarden but in 1814 they moved to Hythe.

A Prayer Book

Stokes is quite a common surname in Hythe.

In 1827 she married William Archer.

They moved to Erith and then to London but We believe that Caroline Archer may have ended her days living in the almshouse in the High street in Hythe and maybe this is where she used her prayer book.

These pictures were taken in Hythe but who were they? M. Bonnington was Caroline Archer's daughter - Margaret Ann Archer - who married Robert Clark Bonnington at St Leonards Shoreditch in 1855 .

Seven years earlier he was a schoolboy and boarder at Emanuel Hospital school in Westminster.

The headmaster at that time was Mr Maskell.
